Anecdotal observations are my preferred method. Tips I can give teachers is to be sure you spend time getting to know your children and their families. Be sure that you are organized and prepared for may situations on the spot. Carry a small notepad and pen with you everywhere always be ready to write. Provide children with plenty of time to play and explore their environments.
Staying prepared is always a great idea. There could be something you see a child doing and want to share with a parent, but if you aren’t prepared to write down the observation, you may forget exactly what happened.
I totally agree i love this form of observations and it was also my first observation method taught. getting to know them over time helps in the long run on what they need to develop certain skills in the long run
I agree with this very much. Getting to know the child and the families is one of the most important things if you want a good relationship with the kids.
